Canon USA has an entire section on flash photography with Speedlites. Very interesting articles can be found here. For example go retro and learn how to take flash photos with the external automatic flash exposure sensor on the Speedlite 580 EX II. Just like my old Braun flash!
Thanks for passing on those tutorials. It would be fun to experiment with wireless off-camera flashes, but I was disappointed to read that "The sole thing you cannot do in wireless that you can with a single flash on-camera is 2nd curtain flash sync." This seems like an important feature for those low-light action shots!

2nd curtain flash sync is only important when you have movement in your shot.
ReplyDeleteWith the built in flash, 2nd curtain sync is indeed not available, that's certainly disappointing.
